Government Working on Retaining International Graduates

Government wants Nova Scotians to participate in keeping international graduates in the province.

“Young immigrants bring new ideas, skills and energy to Nova Scotia,” said Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab. “We must work together to make it possible for more international students who study in the province to stay here after graduation and make it their home.”

On Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Office of Immigration will host a live Twitter chat on keeping international graduates from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Ms. Diab and staff will take questions from the public, share information and gather feedback. Everyone is welcome to participate using the #makeNShome hashtag.

Last June, government created a new path for international graduates with a job offer from a Nova Scotia employer that allowed them to remain in the province. International graduates can also apply for permanent residency through the new Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry pilot stream, launched in January.
